The following directions
will take you across the Delaware Memorial Bridge and then on the simplest route
to Fortescue. There are a few faster ways but they are through very rural areas
without road signs or route numbers. Use these directions from any location in
Delaware, Maryland or points South and West.
1. Delaware Memorial
Twin Bridges to New Jersey.
2. At bottom of bridge,
STAY RIGHT. Look for signs to Pennsville and Route 49.
3. Follow ROUTE 49 EAST
25 miles to Bridgeton, NJ.
4. In Bridgeton, go 3 or
4 traffic lights. Look for large brick building on right. [New Jersey office
building.]
5. TURN RIGHT at brick
building onto SOUTH AVENUE. [One-way traffic]
6. Continue on one-way
SOUTH AVENUE until merging with two-way traffic.
7. From point of merge
with two-way traffic, go 3 miles to convenience store/gas station on left.
8. TURN RIGHT at
convenience store/gas station onto ROUTE 553 SOUTH.
9. Follow ROUTE 553
SOUTH 4 miles to Cedarville. Continue through traffic light for another 4 miles.
10. At BLINKING YELLOW
light, TURN RIGHT onto Baptist Road. [Convenience store/gas station on left. Sign for
Fortescue pointing to the right.]
11. Go 2 miles to
blinking yellow light. Left turn onto ROUTE 637,Fortescue Road. [Turn is easy to
miss! Look for large wooden sign "Welcome to Newport" and turn at that sign.]
12. Go 2 miles. Take
left fork at 'Y' intersection.
13. Follow for
approximately 4 miles to the town of Fortescue. [Concrete bridge entering
Fortescue.]
14. TURN RIGHT at third
street from bridge, Laura Avenue.

Fortescue Sunrise is FIRST HOUSE ON LEFT. 7 Laura Avenue. [There is a large
front yard. The front deck overlooks the meadow.]
